News and Journalism audit hub
Newspapers, news websites, journalism platforms and aggregators.
News organizations have a uniquely demanding audit profile. The user-facing site has to handle viral traffic spikes (a single front-page hit on a major story can drive 10–50x baseline traffic in five minutes), index well in Google News and Top Stories carousels, and serve advertising and subscription paywalls without breaking the reading experience. Schema.org markup is mission-critical: NewsArticle, AnalysisNewsArticle and Article schema unlock Google News inclusion, top-stories eligibility, and the publisher knowledge panel. We routinely find news sites with strong editorial output but unmaintained structured data, which directly impacts visibility in Google's news surfaces. Email deliverability matters for newsletter products — newsletters are a major reader-acquisition and retention channel for modern news organizations — and the cohort is sensitive to DMARC alignment and BIMI adoption. AMP usage is decreasing across the news vertical (Google's deprecation of AMP-specific ranking benefits has reduced the maintenance incentive), which often leaves legacy /amp/ URLs as duplicate-content noise that needs canonicalization audit. Common audit findings on news sites: heavy ad-stack LCP impact, slow CMS-driven page templates, and inconsistent canonical tags between syndicated and original content.
